Interests of Different Social Groups” and “Contemporary Art Exhibitions and Public Space”, publications “Public Space and Intercultural Dialogue”, EPAC, “Platforms 1 and 2” and “Myths of Contemporary Europe”) are designed to be carried out on cross cultural level. The participants of these activities will be of diverse cultural backgrounds from different European countries, sharing their experience and contributing to transnational circulation of cultural products, as well as mobility of cultural operators and arts professionals. The products of these activities will be in English or non-language related – visual and performance art. Thus the products will be easy to circulate among different cultures and countries promoting intercultural dialogue and dialogue between general public and recognized art professionals.
Activities of MMIC in 2010 (exhibitions, flashmobs) are designed to seek innovative ways of contemporary art practise, involvement of passive segments of society in visual art processes and transnational exchange of cultural knowledge. These activities are planned as continuing to be alongside with MMIC policy and philosophy of the transnational exchange and accordingly also enriching of art, knowledge of culture operators and experience of art spectators.
The planned activities of the work program are focused on intercultural dialogue through transnational exchange of artworks and cultural knowledge and experience. The aims of intercultural and transnational exchange will be achieved by means of inviting to participate in the events established professionals and upcoming young artists from different countries-105 artists and art professionals, 30 art institutions, 300 students. This will directly help to achieve the aim of cross-cultural experience exchange. Likewise also the seminar and publication of the five-article series in English will allow the knowledge to spread across the borders of countries. These activities are planned not only to advertise Sculpture Quadrennial Riga, but also to have immediate impact and benefit of these separate preliminary activities, that in long-term all together will contribute to the achievement and impact of Sculpture Quadrennial Riga as the main event and exhibition.
“European Public Art Centre-EPAC”, “Platform 1”, “Platform 2.Adapting North.” and “Myths of Contemporary Europe” directly focuses on intercultural dialogue and transnational exchange of art. In order to research the sculptural artworks of diverse cultural backgrounds and involve artists from different countries in the culminative exhibition of Sculpture Quadrennial Riga, the preceding activities will seek ways of establishing or continuing the dialogue with other organizations and artists, as well as people of other countries.
