Sculpture Quadrennial Riga is a unique international art event focusing on contemporary sculpture. It is the only European scale annual visual art event in Latvia. It was first held in 1972 and the fact that it is topical since then proves its importance and essential role on the world’s culture events map. It is an event to be preserved in order to sustain the tradition of internationally important cultural events, to expand the boarders of cultures and cultural thinking.

Activities of work program in 2010 will be held in public space in 17 European countries thus ensuring the widest possible audience. This will not only introduce to people contemporary art processes, but raise their cultural awareness, invite to participate in art events. Impact will be produced on the society in general as the activities will be held mostly in public space or on-line, thus the information will be available for any interested party, helping to familiarise the public with art processes and improving the theoretical discourse among art professionals, giving them new impulses.

With in the framework of "Sculpture Quadrennial Riga" will be accomplished two big and closely interconnected programmes: MMIC Experimental Lab and  Sculpture Quadrennial Riga.
